  Ministerial & Educational Background
Before coming to APTS, Paul was on Pastoral staff in churches in Missouri and Louisiana, and was in Campus ministry in universities in Missouri and Texas. Paul and his wife, Eveline, were USA home missionaries to International Students in central Texas from 1991-1995. As an Assemblies of God (USA) missionary, Paul and his family ministered in Northern Asia from 1995-2006, whereupon they moved to APTS for Paul to become Academic Dean of APTS. He is ordained with the North Texas District of the Assemblies of God, USA.
 

Areas of Research Interest, Writings and Teaching
Paul has published several journal articles in the areas of Pentecostal theology, hermeneutics, ethics, and missions.  His articles have appeared in Asian Journal of Pentecostal Studies, Cyberjournal of Pentecostal-Charismatic Research, Mythlore, The Spirit & Church, among others, and has essays appearing in the New International Dictionary of Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements and Encyclopedia of Pentecostal and Charismatic Christianity..  He also has personal interest in the Inklings (C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Charles Williams) and Chinese Hermeneutics. His master’s thesis title was: “A Study of Fifth Century BCE Persian Administration in Western Anatolia and Eber Nari.” His doctoral dissertation title was: “Value Formation and the Holy Spirit in the Theologies of Thomas C. Oden, Jürgen Moltmann, and J. Rodman Williams.”  Paul teaches in the fields of Systematic Theology, Hermeneutics, Ethics, History of Christianity in Asia, and Pentecostal Thought.

 
 

Family and Personal Interest
Paul and his wife, Eveline, have two daughters: Rachel who is 17 and Anastasia (Ana) who is 15.  Eveline is a native Indonesian Chinese, and Paul and Eveline met in Texas.  Paul likes reading.  Eveline enjoys cooking, spending time with friends and students, and taking care of her family, including their dog—a Dachshund named Aragorn (who thinks he is king).
